Building Your Packaging Composition: Step-by-Step Guide

Welcome to the Composition section of the APR Design® Assessment Tool! In this video, you'll learn how to break down your packaging item into its individual components and enter detailed material specifications for an accurate evaluation.

What You'll Learn in This Video

  • Setting Package Specs: Define the overall package name and general dimensions before configuring individual components.
  • Adding Main Components: Select primary packaging elements (such as a bottle or generic rigid/flexible structure) and input material types, weights, density, and post-consumer recycled (PCR) content.
  • Configuring Secondary Components & Labels: Add closures, labels, and multi-layer attributes like inks, adhesives, and print coverage percentages.
  • Defining Detailed Properties: Fill in crucial parameters - including opacity, colorants, surface coverage, and rigidity - to ensure a precise evaluation.

Pro-Tip: Providing complete and accurate specifications in the Composition stage acts as the information engine for the assessment, automatically populating context-specific evaluation questions in the next step!
